General summary

Directs and manages aircraft maintenance operations for the College of Aviation and ensures compliance with state and federal regulations.

Major duties

  • Establishes and maintains policies and procedures to maintain and repair fleet aircraft in compliance with federal regulations.
  • Develops and manages the budget for fleet maintenance operations.
  • Hires, trains, schedules and evaluates performance of full-time and part-time staff.
  • Oversees or completes inspections of all fleet aircraft.
  • Establishes and enforces safety standards.
  • Participates in College of Aviation planning and management committees.
  • Negotiates purchases or sales of fleet aircraft and maintains effective working relationships with manufacturers.

Minimum qualifications

Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.

Required education

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • Five years’ relevant experience.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Budget management experience.
  • Policy development experience.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is performed with exposure to any number of elements which may occasionally require some precautions such as safety glasses, protective clothing, ear protection, etc.
