General summary

Provides assessment and accreditation leadership. Ensures continuous improvement through the planning and implementation of equity-based assessment, accreditation, and reporting efforts. Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders on assessment and accreditation.

Major duties

  • Evaluates, plans, assesses certification and licensing services ensuring compliance with state of Michigan policies, laws, rules and state and federal regulations regarding certification and licensing of teachers, administrators and school counselors. Develops operating procedures and policies to evaluate and ensure compliance.
  • Educates faculty, staff and other constituents on relevant rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Supervises the collection, accuracy, security, maintenance and analysis of data regarding state and national reporting. Prepares annual state and national reports.
  • Develops timelines and project goals for state and national reporting regarding licensing, certification programs, and assessments.
  • Directs and supervises licensing and certification approval processes and procedures. Engages in curriculum review. Leads the curriculum committee on the curricular aspects of the assessment and accreditation process.
  • Collaborates with a variety of agencies to further goals regarding teacher preparation performance indicators, and outreach efforts. Represents the college at state and national meetings and participates as a member of various college committees.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to collaboration and equity in the design, delivery, and analysis of assessment materials and processes.
  • Serves as university-wide liaison for interdisciplinary college activities related to assessment.
  • Supervises staff and student employees.

Minimum qualifications

Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.

Required education

  • Master's degree in related field from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • Five years' relevant experience.
  • Supervisory or lead experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Michigan Department of Education teacher certification rules and regulations.

Required other

  • Ability to work irregular shifts and extended hours, including evenings and weekends.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
