General summary

Provides professional leadership to students living in University residence halls. Creates environments and develops programs that positively influence student learning and development.

Major duties

  • Infuses student learning and development into all interactions, processes and policies. Counsels and provides guidance to students with personal problems.
  • Manages administrative processes such as payroll, work orders and occupancy reports to provide a safe living environment and to maintain property and equipment.
  • Communicates with contracted custodial company to ensure cleanliness of the halls. Reports and follows up maintenance concerns with appropriate department.
  • Implements and enforces University policies. Adjudicates student code violations using an educational process and assigning sanctions as necessary.
  • Advises student groups. Develops and facilitates programming to meet students’ developmental needs.
  • Supervises, trains and evaluates staff.

Minimum qualifications

Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.

Required education

  • Master's degree in related field from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • One year's relevant experience.
  • Formal training and experience in crisis intervention and conflict management.

Required other

  • Required to live on campus.
  • Ability to work irregular shifts and extended hours, including weekend and holiday rotation.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
