Director Corporate and Foundation Relations

General summary

Builds and implements a development plan in order to strengthen existing relationships and build new partnerships with corporations and foundations for the University.

Major duties

  • Identifies and promotes relationships with corporate and foundation prospects and donors in support of established fundraising priorities.
  • Organizes various offices across the University to interact effectively and efficiently with external corporate and foundation funders.
  • Develops proposal grant requests, partnership appeals, letters, emails and other fundraising communication to support corporate and foundation engagement.
  • Alerts faculty and staff on funding opportunities. Assists in the development of strategies and tactics including, proposals in order to obtain grants.
  • Serves as a University advocate in the community for local leaders, corporate and foundation partners and other key constituents.

Required education

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • Five years’ relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with wide range of external as well as internal constituents including board members, faculty, staff and senior management.
  • Demonstrated success in grant-writing.
  • Strong research skills.
  • Ability to motivate volunteers and donors.
  • Strong self-motivation.
  • Ability to work as a team member in a complex organization.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
