General summary

Increases the University’s community engagement by leading and executing the development of non-degree online professional development training courses and customized employee training programs for companies and non-profit organizations in the greater Southwest Michigan community.

Major duties

  • Initiates and develops marketing plans to launch new professional development program offerings.
  • Plans and executes external outreach to human resources and corporate training managers to promote professional development offerings. Builds relationships with these clients to secure their business and provide new revenue generation for the University and college departments.
  • Initiates discussions with internal University instructors to ensure the design, development and implementation of on-demand and customized professional development programs meet client needs and build on the goals of academic innovation.
  • Implements market research to identify trends and opportunities for new professional development program expansions. Defines metrics for program evaluation to increase awareness of the University as a provider of professional development training.
  • Consults and collaborates with internal stakeholders to identify and deliver best practices in content development, seamless online access and data collection.
  • Utilizes and holds proficiencies in multiple technology systems.

Minimum qualifications

Required education

  • Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • Five years' relevant experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of Higher education with focus on adult learners.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multi-tiered projects.
  • Ability to provide a high-level of customer service to external and internal professional development partners and program participants.
  • Experience in sales, marketing and program management.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
