General summary
Leads the growth and sustainability of the University’s professional development portfolio in alignment with external partnership strategies. Develops and manages revenue-generating training programs for industry, community, and professional audiences while ensuring financial viability and maintaining institutional standards.
Major duties
- Designs, develops, and supports professional development and non-credit programs in alignment with departmental priorities. Ensures offerings are externally focused, revenue-oriented, and compliant with policies, brand standards, and accreditation requirements.
- Collaborates with internal stakeholders to establish policies and procedures for micro-credentials, digital badges, and prior learning assessments.
- Identifies processes to convert non-credit offerings into academic credit in partnership with academic leadership and manages administrative functions and compliance requirements for professional development programming
- Cultivates and strengthens relationships with external clients to expand tailored professional development offerings. Leads outreach strategies, program coordination, agreements, and budget management to ensure programs meet established revenue goals. Responsible for achieving baseline revenue targets for professional development programs.
- Collaborates with internal stakeholders across colleges and departments to identify opportunities for non-credit and professional development programs. Provides guidance and support to align offerings with market needs and institutional priorities.
- Develops, oversees, and continuously improves procedures, systems, and tools that support the administration and delivery of professional development programs.
- Manages and ensures compliance with University processes related to registration, data collection, billing, and continuing education requirements.
- Represents the unit at University and community events to promote program visibility, build networks, and support institutional initiatives. Contributes to planning and implementation of unit-sponsored activities and events as needed.
Minimum qualifications
Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.
Required education
- Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.
Required experience
- Five years' relevant experience.
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Experience in professional development, training, or related fields.
- Experience with program coordination, generating revenue through fee-based programs or services, and working with external partners.
- Ability to follow university policies, meet compliance requirements, and work collaboratively with colleagues across units.
Physical requirements
Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.
Working conditions
Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
