General summary
Supervises an information technology laboratory, ensuring access and support to users in the college, division or University.
Major duties
- Develops and maintains policies and procedures to provide reliable access and support to authorized users of the information technology laboratory.
- Hires, trains and evaluates performance of student staff. Prepares work schedules which ensure trained staff are available during all laboratory hours.
- Provides training to end-users or develops programs or documentation for end-user training. Provides end-user support.
- Maintains supplies and equipment.
- Installs software, hardware and peripherals. Coordinates these activities to ensure the laboratory is available during scheduled hours.
- Prepares reports and summaries of laboratory usage and services.
- Recommends hardware, software and peripherals which meet University and professional standards.
Minimum qualifications
Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.
Required education
- Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.
Required experience
- Three years' relevant experience.
- Experience with servicer administration.
- Experience creating and implementing professional standards and practices.

- Relevant industry certification.
Physical requirements
Light work with some physical demands such as continuously lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds, but rarely moving more and 25 to 50 pounds.
Working conditions
Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
