General summary
Directs the academic program for Arts Administration. Oversees marketing and communication for theatre production programs, assists with fundraising and sponsorship and manages ticketing and front house operations.
Major duties
- Responsible for recruiting, interviewing, evaluating and accepting students. Develops program curriculum, assists in advising students, and advances relationships that serve the program’s growth.
- Supervises and trains students in a variety of arts administration subjects. Teaches theater arts management and career preparation courses. Curates professional development activities and guest artist engagement. Participates in departmental strategic planning in conjunction with faculty.
- Markets and communicates for the department, its production program and the University Theatre Guild. Creates and executes a marketing plan for the purpose of promoting productions and recruiting prospective students.
- Manages websites and social media accounts for the department. Responsible for the production and distribution of all publications and electronic communications, including all production programs
- Pursues and facilitates public relations opportunities for the purpose of promoting the work of the department, including radio interviews, editorial opportunities, photo and television shoots, and other special on-site public appearances.
- Responsible for all ticket sales operations. Manages ticket office staff, and establishes and maintains customer service standards.
- Responsible for all front of house operations. Staffs and trains house managers, establishes policies and procedures and manages patron issues.
- Manages budget for the department. Deposits and tracks ticket office income and unearned income. Assists with fundraising efforts for the department. Solicits and secures sponsorships and in-kind donations. Plans fundraising events.
Minimum qualifications
Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.
Required education
- Master's degree in related field from an accredited institution.
Required experience
- Three years' relevant experience.
- Supervisory or lead experience.
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with customer relationship management software.
Physical requirements
Office work or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.
Working conditions
Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
