General summary
Provides design services by planning, overseeing, and coordinating interior design projects for new capital and in-house renovation construction projects for the University.
Major duties
- Analyses, develops and plans design solutions. Coordinates interior design projects for multiple renovations and new construction for the University.
- Gathers and documents requirements for interior design projects. Develops and plans detailed design solutions.
- Obtains quotes and pricing and acts as the University’s agent in creating project bidding documents. Monitors project budgets and resolves cost issues.
- Presents designs to clients, explains construction requirements and University standards, and negotiates modifications to designs as necessary.
- Responsible for resolution of warranty issues.
- Coordinates, and collaborates with architects, contractors, and other service providers on project installation and completion.
- Organizes and supervises projects to completion. Ensures that project specifications meet design requirements and comply with University standards.
- Maintains all project documentation.

Required education
- Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.
Required experience
- Experience with project and budget management.
- Experience managing contractors or vendors.
- Experience with commercial design, and AutoCad/office software.
- Strong interpersonal, written, organizational and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to provide high level of customer service.
- Basic knowledge of Americans with Disability Act.
Required other
- Ability to travel across campus and navigate construction sites.

- Master's degree in related field from an accredited institution.
Desired experience
- Master's degree in related field from an accredited institution
- NCIDQ certified
- Ability to develop, maintain, analyze programmatic space and utilization data.
- Knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and business practices.
- Knowledge of sustainability
- Systems furniture experience
- Understanding of brand and how it relates to the built environment.
- Working knowledge of Business and Institutional Furniture Manufacturers Association Level certification and sustainable criteria.
Physical requirements
Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.
Working conditions
Work is performed with exposure to any number of elements which may occasionally require some precautions such as safety glasses, protective clothing, ear protection, etc.
