General summary

Performs sales calls to potential clients within the University, corporate and social markets, including the conference service role of planning and selling banquets and meetings.

Major duties

  • Performs sales calls to potential clients within the University, corporate and social markets. Follows up on new leads and referrals.
  • Responsible for conference service preparation including proposals preparation and creation of contracts.
  • Oversees special events. Responsible for opening and closing the building while preparing for multiple client arrivals. Manages event staff, including set-up, banquet and kitchen.
  • Travels offsite for conferences and events both local and non-local. Cultivates and secures potential partnerships within the community.
  • Collaborates with staff to develop promotions for special events, marketing plans and menus.

Minimum qualifications

Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.

Required education

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • Three year’s relevant experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience of marketing or sales.

Required other

  • Ability to travel off-campus, over multiple days.

Physical requirements

Light work with some physical demands such as continuously lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds, but rarely moving more than 25 to 50 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally preformed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
