General summary

Assists with management of the Human Resources service center. Oversees daily administration of various Human Resources functions and projects.

Major duties

  • Assists with management of the Human Resources service center. Provides expertise and functional supervision to staff, including training related to data entry and administrative tasks. Provides customer service to University employees and retirees.
  • Oversees the Form I-9 process, including required auditing, compliance review, international hires, remote Form I-9 completion, and pseudo social security numbers. Supervises staff responsible for coordinating the I-9 process, verifying Form I-9 documents, and maintaining related files.
  • Oversees student employment related functions, including compensation processes. Collaborates with career and student employment services and the graduate colleges to enhance processes and ensure accurate data.
  • Supports various components of the human resources information system. Maintains critical benefits-related tables, including preparing annual rate calculations for annual updates and coordinating associated testing. Administers portions of the electronic workflow system and processes. Participates in the annual personnel management software upgrade process, including testing and researching student actions.
  • Analyzes various audits of human resources information system data in order to identify errors and resolve discrepancies. Assists with leave of absence related tracking, reporting, and billing.
  • Serves on the pay implementation team comprised of representatives from various departments. Participates in benefit-related project teams and supports benefits-related functions, including the retiree health insurance reimbursement process.
  • Coordinates employee recognition programs, including the monthly service award process.

Required education

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • Three years' relevant experience.
  • Experience with relational databases required.
  • Strong understanding of University policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Knowledge of Human Resources laws.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
