General summary
Serves as project architect for renovation and remodeling of University properties.
Major duties
- Gathers and documents requirements for renovation and remodeling projects.
- Provides direction to professional services contractors to ensure designs meet project requirements and professional standards.
- Prepares or reviews detailed project plans including materials, timelines and budgets; identifies and resolves problems.
- Collaborates with construction and engineering staff to review project specifications and monitor progress during construction.
- Inspects work to ensure compliance with project requirements, contract specifications, timelines and budgets.
- Creates architectural plans and specifications.
- Provides information on project status to building occupants and University leadership.
Minimum qualifications
Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.
Required education
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from an accredited institution.
Required experience
- Five years’ relevant experience.
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
- Project management experience.
- Budget management experience.
- Experience managing contractors or vendors.
Required other
- State licensed Architect.
Physical requirements
Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.
Working conditions
Work is performed with exposure to any number of elements which may occasionally require some precautions such as safety glasses, protective clothing, ear protection, etc.
