General summary

Supervises computer operations, production support and scanning services, providing reliable support to the University’s information technology environment.

Major duties

  • Plans, schedules, implements and oversees production operations in a multi-platform computing environment.
  • Establishes and maintains operating standards and policies.
  • Reviews and approves procedures for back-up and restore, scanning and automated monitoring processes.
  • Hires, trains and evaluates performance of staff and student employees.
  • Oversees monitoring of access and security systems.
  • Provides on-call problem-solving support to server operations.

Minimum qualifications

Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.

Required education

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited institution, or Bachelor’s degree in a non-related field from an accredited institution, combined with relevant experience.

Required experience

  • Five years’ relevant experience.
  • Supervisory or lead experience.
  • Experience documenting policies or procedures.

Required other

  • Must be available to provide system maintenance or end-user support outside of normal business hours.

Desired other

  • Relevant industry certification.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
