General summary
Provides strategy for and directs the development and maintenance of information technology resources for a department, as well as oversees project management.
Major duties
- Ensures the department's technical needs are met, including but not limited to hardware and software systems, applications, installation, repair and decommissioning technology.
- Ensures compliance to database policies and procedures as well as University, state, and federal policies regarding privacy, confidentiality, and security.
- Provides strategic leadership for information technology support for the department, including assessment, project management and participation in University-wide information technology initiatives.
- Establishes and monitors policies on user access, data standards, back-up and disaster recovery.
- Leads project management for department.
- Ensure communication to stakeholders regarding throughout the project life cycle on project timeline, progress, and resource needs.
- Hires, trains, evaluates and supervises staff.
Minimum qualifications
Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.
Required education
- Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.
Required experience
- Three years' relevant experience.
- Supervisory experience.
- Project management experience.
Required other
- Ability to work irregular shifts and extended hours, including evenings and weekends.
Physical requirements
Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.
Working conditions
Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
