General summary

Administers the integrated library system and discovery interface for the resource management unit, in collaboration with other staff. Manages day to day operations of the discovery back office. Assists in the planning and completion of local customization. Evaluating and streamlining workflows and processes and troubleshooting access problems.

Major duties

  • Researches, recommends and assists in the implementation of customizations to the discovery layer and integrated library system to enhance the user experience and streamline workflows.
  • Configures, tests and optimizes the discovery interface display logic and the central index to enhance the user experience.
  • Monitors day to day performance of the integrated library system and discovery layer to ensure all data pipelines, indexing and publishing jobs, import profiles and resource management integrations are functioning optimally.
  • Assists in managing the library’s electronic and continuing resources, including work related to acquisitions, activation, renewal, customization, testing, updating, troubleshooting and supporting electronic resources within the integrated library system, discovery layer, vendor interfaces and third party applications.
  • Communicates and collaborates with service providers, publishers, vendors, consortia, content providers, the University community and library faculty and staff to ensure seamless access to electronic resources.

Required education

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • One year's relevant experience.
  • Working knowledge of spreadsheet and relational database applications.
  • Experience with relevant programming languages.
  • Knowledge of database structures.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Willingness to acquire new skills in a rapidly changing environment.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
