General summary
Provides physical therapy services, including evaluation of injury, development, and implementation of rehabilitation protocols and associated tasks.
Major duties
- Performs evaluation of orthopedic and muscular injuries. Evaluates interprets findings, diagnoses and educates orthopedic patients: develop and implements treatment plans utilizing best rehabilitation practices including manual therapy, modalities, therapeutic exercises, casting, bracing, splinting and orthotic fabrication.
- Documents patients’ care utilizing electronic medical recording, and consults with other health care professionals and health insurance companies.
- Oversees physical therapy assistants, graduate, and undergraduate athletic training students. Provides guest lectures and in-services for undergraduate and graduate athletic training programs.
- Maintains critical inquiries, performs research and other scholarly endeavors including education on current physical therapy practices, and maintains state licensure as required.
- Serves on a variety of committees including quality improvement, marketing, occupational health, injury prevention, and health and wellness of the campus community.
Minimum qualifications
Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.
Required education
- Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.
Required experience
- Two years' relevant experience.
Required other
- Licensure by Michigan Board of Physical Therapy.
Physical requirements
Light work with some physical demands such as continuously lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds, but rarely moving more than 25 to 50 pounds.
Working conditions
Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
