General summary
Fosters engagement, empowers students, and develops leaders through a robust platform of student organizations and other leadership programs.
Major duties
- Develops intentional and purposeful learning outcomes for programs and initiatives through the creation of goals and strategies. Implements both quantitative and qualitative assessments for program enhancement and enrichment.
- Oversees program coordination and administration of the University’s registered student organizations and large campus events. Ensures administrative and programming support are delivered to the leadership development arm of the department. Provides professional development opportunities for others in the department through coaching and mentoring.
- Advises and guides registered student organizations in planning, organizing, and delivering student events and programs. Develops, promotes, coordinates, and assesses leadership programs and activities for students. Develops and implements training and development curriculum. Assesses infrastructure and mission of programs and initiatives.
- Develops and implements reflective self-assessment processes to allow for students to integrate their experiences into their education and understand the implications of these experiences for their own learning and development.
- Serves as a liaison between organizations and campus administrators. Oversees compliance with state and federal regulations. Works to resolve personnel and operational issues.
- Coordinates professional development efforts for the department for undergraduate and graduate students. Assists with the development and implementation of comprehensive policies and procedures.
- Collaborates and supports the department for student engagement and student affairs. Contributes to divisional initiatives on diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. Embeds skill building and expertise into the student experience.
- Assists with operational and strategic planning for the office.
- Hires, trains, evaluates, and supervises staff and student employees.
Minimum qualifications
Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.
Required education
- Master's degree in related field from an accredited institution.
Required experience
- Five years' relevant experience.
- Supervisory or lead experience.
- Demonstrated progressive leadership responsibilities.
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with advising, coaching and mentoring.
- Demonstrated group facilitation experience.
Required other
- Ability to work irregular shifts and extended hours, including evenings and weekends.
Physical requirements
Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.
Working conditions
Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
