General summary

Directs the ongoing implementation and development of the financial aid systems, processing, technology and security, data analysis, and reporting.

Major duties

  • Provides leadership and direction of the student information system financial aid module. Works collaboratively with information technology staff and compliance officer to optimize the use of University software and maintain compliance with regulatory agencies.
  • Leads the development and implementation of ongoing system and process improvements. Analyzes problems and implements corrective action when required.
  • Conducts research, prepares reports for internal and external use, analyzes data, and recommends and implements policy changes.
  • Facilitates the development of data and procedures to support enrollment management for the full student life cycle.
  • Provides mandatory reporting for various state and federal grant programs, as well as reporting of financial data for numerous external reports and surveys.
  • Administers the department's local area network. Ensures network security, assigns IDs, and provides overall digital security of all sensitive information.
  • Serves as a member of the financial aid strategic management team as well as various university committees and task forces. Assists the director with short and long-term planning.
  • Provides technical support to the financial aid teams. Analyses and resolves software problems.
  • Overseas all the marketing and communications. Manages the technology budget.
  • Hires, trains, evaluates and supervises staff.

Minimum qualifications

Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.

Required education

  • Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • Five years' relevant experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of privacy regulations.
  • Knowledge of federal, state and institutional financial aid regulations and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of student information, financial aid, and other third-party systems.
  • Ability to utilize reporting languages and logic to effectively read, understand and write related programming code.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
