General summary

Oversees and provides strategic direction for the Virtual Imaging Technology Lab (VITAL) and the Center for Advancing Arts Research (CFAAR), leading planning initiatives and fostering collaboration on digital technology projects with college, University, and external partners. Designs and develops immersive, interactive experiences that support research, education, and engagement.

Major duties

  • Leads the conception, design, and development of innovative immersive and interactive experiences for CFAAR.
  • Develops 3D models, animations, and custom software solutions that advance research, education, and public engagement initiatives.
  • Oversees and directs the creation of immersive content by staff and students, ensuring high-quality execution and alignment with project goals.
  • Establishes, documents, and continuously improves operating procedures for advanced media technology systems in VITAL and CFAAR to ensure consistent operations, compliance with University standards, and adherence to industry best practices.
  • Oversees and provides direction for VITAL and CFAAR, including strategic planning and collaboration on digital technology projects with college, University, and external partners.
  • Hires, trains, evaluates and supervises student employees.

Minimum qualifications

Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.

Required education

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • Five years' relevant experience.

Required other

  • Ability to work irregular shifts and extended hours, including weekends and holidays.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
