General summary

Manages all front-of-house activities at Miller auditorium to ensure the full patron experience.

Major duties

  • Coordinates and supervises volunteer usher programs, including scheduling, training, and software programming.
  • Manages the front-of-house aspects of events, including financial settlement with merchandise vendors, the flow of traffic in lobbies, and the safety of guests and staff during the event.
  • Establishes policies and procedures for front-of-house staff and ensures safety and compliance with University policy and applicable regulations. Manages emergency evacuations and severe weather problems.
  • Oversees all aspects of lobby rentals and receptions, including space setup, food service beverage and alcohol service, and event staffing.
  • Serves as a backup for input of Miller Auditorium payroll; verifies the Front of House payroll before submitting it for approval
  • Oversees inventory and sales of concessions and alcohol, including end-of-year reports, financial entries, and approving payment of invoices.
  • Trains the auditorium staff in safety, emergency, and evacuation procedures; customer service; and alcohol service requirements.
  • Serves as the building coordinator for addressing maintenance, landscape, and custodial issues.
  • Coordinates off-site bar service events, including staffing, supplies, and bar service products.

Minimum qualifications

Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.

Required education

  • Associate's degree or two years' college coursework in a related field from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • One year's relevant experience.

Required other

  • Ability to work irregular shifts and extended hours, including weekends and holidays.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
