General summary
Provides compliance and governance services for University coaches, staff, and student-athletes.
Major duties
- Interprets sports association rules and regularly checks for changes to maintain compliance. Promptly educates the department when changes occur.
- Develops timely and comprehensive educational presentations and materials for coaches and staff members to promote awareness of current athletic conference and governance related issues.
- Directs the letter of intent and financial aid offer processes to create scholarship offers for prospective student-athletes.
- Ensures proper documentation throughout the recruiting process for student-athletes. Trains coaches and staff members on off-campus recruiting rules.
- Assists with the name, image, and likeness program in creating educational offerings and monitoring disclosures.
- Develops and monitors playing and practice calendars for all teams including analysis of countable athletically related activities and time demands.
- Assists the department with evaluating student-athlete eligibility and monitoring financial aid.
Minimum qualifications
Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.
Required education
- Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.
Required experience
- Three years' relevant experience.
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Knowledge of intercollegiate athletic programs, rules and regulations.
- Experience with NCAA compliance.
Required other
- Ability to work irregular shifts and extended hours, including weekends and holidays.
Physical requirements
Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.
Working conditions
Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
