General summary

Manages operations of athletic facilities. Oversees set-up, security, parking and personnel scheduling of athletic facilities for games and events.

Major duties

  • Leads and directs all aspects of safety, management, and daily effectiveness of operations of athletic facilities.
  • Develops and implements building policies and procedures and risk management procedures.
  • Manages game and event operations. Coordinates traffic, emergency medical systems, security, parking and the hiring, training and supervision of event operations staff.
  • Coordinates with athletic staff to schedule and allocate facility time to athletic teams, departmental needs and campus events.
  • Manages facility rentals. Negotiates and executes contracts and provides supervision or other assistance at events.
  • Coordinates with law enforcement and public safety to ensure safety of events and venues.
  • Communicates with contracted partners tied to facility operations and event management.
  • Coordinates facility renovation, remodeling, and development. Plans and monitors budgets for facility projects.
  • Assesses, coordinates and monitors all maintenance, custodial and landscaping work performed for the intercollegiate athletics and its venues.

Required education

  • Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • Five years' relevant experience.
  • Supervisory or lead experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of intercollegiate athletic programs, rules and regulations.
  • Experience operating athletics facilities and running game operations for athletic events.
  • Knowledge of rental procedures and NCAA polices regarding rentals of athletic facilities.

Required other

  • Ability to work irregular shifts and extended hours, including weekends and holidays.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is performed with exposure to any number of elements which may occasionally require some precautions such as safety glasses, protective clothing, ear protection, etc.
