General summary
Administers all aspects of intercollegiate event and facility operations. Provides leadership and strategic direction to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient management of athletic facilities and game venues. Oversees event operations to promote safety, well-being, and positive experiences for participants and attendees. Establishes and enforces policies and collaborates with internal units and external agencies to support successful athletic events.
Major duties
- Leads and directs all aspects of safety, management, and operational effectiveness for multiple athletic facilities. Coordinates with internal and external professionals to develop, implement, and monitor building policies, procedures, risk management, and safety standards.
- Coordinates facility scheduling and allocation for athletics programs, departmental needs, and approved campus events. Determines availability and manages third-party use of athletic facilities to support revenue goals.
- Leads communication and collaboration with law enforcement, emergency services, facilities, health and safety teams, and event personnel to ensure venue and attendee safety. Builds consensus among professional units to develop and implement risk management and emergency action plans for events and facility use. Communicates policies and event information to attendees.
- Serves as liaison for collaboration with bargaining unit staff and contracted partners regarding facility operations and event management. Manages requests for proposals and provides leadership to team members, fostering development and empowerment to advance knowledge and performance.
- Coordinates facility development, renovation, remodeling, and maintenance projects for the Division. Collaborates with multiple professional disciplines to ensure project objectives are met and maintains accurate records to monitor costs and adherence to budget.
Minimum qualifications

Required education
- Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.
Required experience
- Five years' relevant experience.
- Supervisory or lead experience.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of intercollegiate athletic programs, rules and regulations.
- Experience operating athletics facilities and running game operations for athletic events.
- Knowledge of rental procedures and NCAA polices regarding rentals of athletic facilities.
Required other
- Ability to work irregular shifts and extended hours, including weekends and holidays.
Physical requirements
Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.
Working conditions
Work is performed with exposure to any number of elements which may occasionally require some precautions such as safety glasses, protective clothing, ear protection, etc.
