General summary
Supports intercollegiate athletics in all aspects of equipment management.
Major duties
- Manages the services and day-to-day operations of the athletic equipment rooms in multiple University facilities.
- Oversees the centralized responsibility for all athletic equipment purchases and inventory for all athletic teams.
- Evaluates and monitors the effectiveness of services, policies, and procedures; identify problems and institute or recommend changes.
- Adheres to University, state, conference, and National Collegiate Athletic Association policies and procedures, including Title IX, regarding the issuance of equipment and services for all intercollegiate sports. Remains current with evolving safety standards that are necessary to reduce liability.
- Ensures proper fitting and maintenance of all sports equipment to provide a safe environment for student athletes. Manages relationships with sponsors and other vendors.
- Collaborates with campus licensing, retail, and bookstore areas to generate revenue, brand identity protection, and promotion of Bronco athletic marks.
- Supervises and trains student and temp equipment room staff. Determines work assignments and work schedules to accommodate the extended hours and complex scheduling of collegiate practices and sporting events.
- Ensures the availability of equipment support for visiting teams and officials.
- Hires, trains, evaluates, and supervises staff and student employees.
Minimum qualifications
Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.
Required education
- Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution
Required experience
- Three years' relevant experience.
- Experience working in equipment operations. Inventory experience. Budget management experience
Required other
- Relevant industry certification.
- Ability to work irregular shifts and extended hours, including evenings and weekends.
Physical requirements
The position requires work outside and in inclement weather with frequent early morning, evening, and weekend work required throughout the year with those dates determined by the athletic director.
Working conditions
Work is performed in an environment with exposure to somewhat disagreeable or hazardous conditions.
