General summary
Supervises a senior day services program which serves individuals with cognitive or functional impairments.
Major duties
- Develops and ensures the implementation of activities designed to enhance physical and cognitive health of participants, increase social interactions, provide ongoing learning and positive growth experiences, and prevent or delay effects of age-related occurrences.
- Identifies professional development activities, including training in aging-related competencies. Redesigns current training practices.
- Establishes relationships with referral agents at external residential providers and community agencies.
- Meets with participants and care teams as needed in order to monitor service plans and follow-up on participant progress.
- Participates as a member of the department’s management team and committees. Oversees accreditation standards and contract compliance.
- Supervises temporary staff and student employees.
Minimum qualifications
Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.
Required education
- Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.
Required experience
- Five years' relevant experience.
- Supervisory or lead experience.
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience working with elderly adults in a community settings.
- Experience training direct care staff.
- Experience meeting requirements of external funding sources and accreditation.
Physical requirements
Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.
Working conditions
Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
