General summary
Manages the accounting and finance functions for private and alternative student loans, the federal Pell Grant and federally-designated campus-based programs.
Major duties
- Provide strategic and transformational administrative and professional leadership, direction and support to the financial aid office and other offices across campus related to federally-designated campus-based programs.
- Forecasts and plans expenditures from multiple federal and institutional funded budgets. Analyzes financial aid disbursement activity and modifies budgets and over commitment levels to meet disbursement objectives.
- Ensure Title IV compliance by leading the completion of federal financial reports.
- Diagnoses, analyzes and resolves system issues related to federal Pell Grant and campus-based aid programs. Coordinates with information technology teams to test new system updates, revise current processes and plan for upcoming changes.
- Serves on the strategic management group involved in personnel, budget, short and long term strategies for the financial aid office. Serves as member of financial aid compliance team to ensure accurate and consistent application of federal, state and University regulations governing student financial aid.
- Oversees business management staff of financial aid office. Oversees staff responsible for the creation and maintenance award and disbursement codes for the student information center.
- Hires, trains, evaluates and supervises staff.

Required education
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited institution.
Required experience
- Three years' relevant experience.
- Supervisory experience.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and processes.
- Proven ability to apply accounting knowledge to solve problems.
- Program management or administration experience.
- Advanced knowledge of and experience with spreadsheet software.
- Working knowledge of word processing software.
Physical requirements
Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.
Working conditions
Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
