General summary

Directs and coordinates the unit operations for Outreach and Financial Literacy and Educational Planning for the department of Financial Aid.

Major duties

  • Directs and coordinates the unit operations for Outreach and Financial Literacy and Educational Planning for the department of Financial Aid, including strategic planning, program development and delivery, grants, activity coordination and related student success initiatives.
  • Researches trends and best practices in financial literacy and financial aid and enrollment management to maintain technology and customer service standards.
  • Seeks grant and other external funding for financial literacy and educational planning and outreach projects. Coordinates with other external constituents on financial literacy and educational planning and outreach projects and opportunities.
  • Manages the scheduling and marketing of financial aid and literacy awareness projects and presentations to high schools, college and federally funded programs. Serves as a liaison to state and national financial aid organizations.
  • Supervises staff and student employees, including resolution of personnel and operational issues. Communicates changes in policies, procedures, systems and federal guidelines to staff.
  • Supervises and trains peer mentors. Creates a peer mentor network and works with other campus student groups.
  • Assists the director in the management of student financial aid activities.

Minimum qualifications

Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.

Required education

  • Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • Three years' relevant experience.
  • Supervisory or lead experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of federal, state and institutional financial aid regulations and guidelines.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
