General summary

Directs the tennis operations at the University’s athletic club.

Major duties

  • Manages finances and oversees budget and member accounts for the department.
  • Coordinates marketing of tennis activities and programs. Develops short and long-term strategies for growth in all tennis programming. Assesses current programming and new trends.
  • Hires, trains and supervises tennis operation staff.
  • Oversees and develops programming that meets tennis members needs from beginners to competitive juniors, leagues, travel teams and other groups. Teaches private and group tennis lessons. Manages tournaments.
  • Maintains internal and external relations to promote the athletic club. Provides customer service and communication.

Minimum qualifications

Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.

Required education

  • Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • Three years' relevant experience.

Required other

  • U.S. Professional Tennis Association certification.
  • First Aid/CPR/AED certification.

Physical requirements

Light work with some physical demands such as continuously lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds, but rarely moving more than 25 to 50 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
