General summary

Develops, manages and oversees all aspects of multiple study abroad programs in assigned countries.

Major duties

  • Develops marketing strategies and materials in collaboration with other department staff in order to recruit and market University study and intern abroad and scholarship opportunities.
  • Plans, organizes and implements the University study abroad fair in order to market the program. Coordinates campus presentations regarding study abroad and develops a social media plan in collaboration with a marketing specialist and other staff.
  • Manages and supports re-entry activities by creating and facilitating volunteer activities, training, supervising and monitoring student volunteers. Hosts re-entry support activities that encourage students to share experiences.
  • Manages short and long-term University and affiliated programs and international internships, including contact with international partners, risk management and site visits. Evaluates applications and admits students into programs. Educates students in international financial and academic systems. Evaluates foreign university courses for study abroad credit.
  • Serves as the mediator to facilitate resolution of health, safety and family issues, academic disputes and appeal processes for responsible programs and regions. Oversees international communications and responses to students and their families, host-university officials, faculty directors and University staff through documentation of incidents.
  • Trains and supervises student employees in outreach and marketing.

Minimum qualifications

Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.

Required education

  • Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • Two years' relevant experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • International work or study experience.

Required other

  • Proficiency in a second language.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
