General summary

Serves as the University administrator responsible for the operation of public radio station WMUK. Directs staff and provides leadership. Observes activities to ensure compliance with government and licensee regulations. Manages budgets and raises money to secure the station's continuing growth.

Major duties

  • Directs and coordinates activities of the radio station and supervises personnel.
  • Sets, develops and administers overall policies for the station.
  • Secures major and planned gifts. Manages and coordinates station fund drives.
  • Serves as a representative for broadcasting organizations as well as for local and national meetings.
  • Confers with licensee senior management to discuss station policy and administrative procedures. Serves as primary liaison to general public, the Federal Communications Commission, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and other professional and community organizations.
  • Prepares the operating budget and monitors expenses for the station.

Minimum qualifications

Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.

Required education

  • Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • Five years' relevant experience.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Familiarity with FCC regulations.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
