General summary
Purchases technology equipment and supervises help desk operations.
Major duties
- Develops and implements procedures governing help desk operations.
- Hires, trains and evaluates performance of staff and student employees.
- Negotiates with vendors to acquire technology hardware, software and related services.
- Ensures that all contracts and agreements comply with University purchasing standards.
- Ensures that technology licenses are in compliance with contract specifications.
- Develops, installs, tests and maintains applications application software.
- Provides recommendations on technology purchases to departments, colleges and divisions.
- Participates in technology planning groups.
Minimum qualifications
Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.
Required education
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited institution, or Bachelor’s degree in a non-related field from an accredited institution combined with relevant experience.
Required experience
- Three years’ relevant experience.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
- Purchasing or contract management experience.

- Relevant industry certification.
Physical requirements
Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.
Working conditions
Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
