General summary
Ensures the safety and reliability of the College of Aviation aircraft.
Major duties
- Reviews Federal Aviation Administration and manufacturers’ directives, integrates these with aircraft maintenance schedules and implements inspection and maintenance changes necessary to comply with directives.
- Trains and directs full-time and part-time staff to complete aircraft inspections and maintenance.
- Audits operational, inspection and maintenance records for all fleet aircraft to ensure compliance with Federal Aviation Administration requirements and manufacturers’ standards.
- Performs aircraft inspections, maintenance and repairs.
- Ensures that manufacturers’ technical documentation is complete and up-to-date.
- Works closely with flight operations to schedule aircraft to ensure maintenance and repairs can be completed in compliance with standards and regulations.
Minimum qualifications
Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.
Required education
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited institution.
Required experience
- Five years’ relevant experience.
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
- Aviation industry experience.
Required other
- Federal Aviation Administration air-frame, power-plant and inspection authorization licensing.
Desired qualifications
Desired other
- Manufacturers’ certification in airframe and powerplant maintenance.
- Federal Aviation Administration private pilot certificate.
Physical requirements
Light work with some physical demands such as continuously lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds, but rarely moving more than 25 to 50 pounds.
Working conditions
Work is performed in an environment with exposure to somewhat disagreeable or hazardous conditions.
