General summary
Manages development and maintenance of the University’s information technology identity management and telecommunications platforms.
Major duties
- Evaluates information technology resources necessary to support and enhance collaboration within the University, and recommends projects to support these goals.
- Plans and manages projects to install, upgrade or maintain communication and collaboration hardware and software.
- Establishes and promotes standards and procedures to ensure the reliability of communication and collaboration systems.
- Develops and monitors budgets for operations and projects.
- Ensures software and hardware meet University requirements and professional standards.
- Selects and manages vendors.
- Participates in information technology strategic planning initiatives.
- Codes, tests, debugs and installs specialized software and maintains all relevant documentation.
- Hires, trains and evaluates performance of staff.
Minimum qualifications
Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.
Required education
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited institution, or Bachelor’s degree in a non-related field from an accredited institution combined with relevant experience.
Required experience
- Five years’ relevant experience.
- Supervisory experience.
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience developing and documenting policies and procedures.
- Vendor management experience.
- Budget management experience.
- Knowledge of security and privacy regulations.
Desired qualifications
Desired experience
- Strategic planning experience in higher education or other shared governance environment.
- Experience with communication and collaboration systems including telephone systems, online learning and email systems.
Desired other
- Relevant industry certification.
Physical requirements
Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.
Working conditions
Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
