General summary

Provides communications and public relations support for the department or college.

Major duties

  • Assists with communications, marketing promotions, public relations, development of promotional material and social media management.
  • Provides event planning support, typically of a routine or repetitive nature. May support a first-time event.
  • Coordinates communication regarding office functions and support services within and outside the university, particularly for faculty, students and community partners.
  • Assists with responding to media requests.
  • May provide guidance and direction to student employees.

Minimum qualifications

Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.

Required education

  • Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • One year's relevant experience.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting/moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors and/or any number of elements.
