General summary

Installs and maintains specialized aviation training equipment and information technology hardware and software for the College of Aviation.

Major duties

  • Calibrates, maintains and repairs flight simulators, ensuring their reliability and compliance with Federal Aviation Administration regulations. Operates electronic and fabrication equipment to manufacture or repair parts for flight simulators.
  • Maintains all documentation necessary to validate simulator operations and meet regulatory requirements.
  • Installs and maintains computer hardware and software for faculty, staff and instructional laboratories.
  • Supervises instructional laboratories.
  • Hires, trains and evaluates performance of part-time staff.
  • Collaborates with the Office of Information Technology to plan and maintain network access.
  • Researches and recommends additions or upgrades to technology hardware and software.

Minimum qualifications

Required education

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • Two years’ relevant experience.
  • Supervisory or lead experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of relevant Federal Aviation Administration regulations.

Physical requirements

Light work with some physical demands such as continuously lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds, but rarely moving more than 25 to 50 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is performed with exposure to any number of elements which may occasionally require some precautions such as safety glasses, protective clothing, ear protection, etc.
