General summary

Leads overall event strategy for University Advancement. Manages daily activities of the event team.

Major duties

  • Develops and leads strategies for signature, regional, and national events.
  • Creates and executes an annual calendar of events.
  • Oversees event marketing efforts to maximize visibility, attendance, and engagement.
  • Monitors and manages event budgets, ensuring financial accountability and cost-effectiveness.
  • Develops and leads strategies for assigned alumni and donor engagement initiatives.
  • Manages the daily activities of the events team.
  • Creates and manages signature events that align with the organization's mission and goals.
  • Builds and maintains collaborative working relationships with partners on- and off-campus.
  • Develops, documents, and evaluates event processes and procedures to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Hires, trains, evaluates, and supervises staff.

Minimum qualifications

Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.

Required education

  • Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution

Required experience

  • Three years' relevant experience
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently.
  • Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in event planning, public relations, communications, or related field. Demonstrated professionalism.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
