General summary

Plans, develops, implements and oversees internal and external promotion, communication, outreach and recruitment strategies for extended university programs.

Major duties

  • Creates, implements and measures the success of the promotion, communication, recruitment and outreach program that enhances the University’s online and regional educational opportunities with the marketplace and general public.
  • Develops and implements strategies and ensures efficient use of technology-driven recruitment and outreach systems. Ensures recruitment and outreach strategies metrics align to the University online and regional enrollment strategy.
  • Provides leadership for program expansion of off-campus and online initiatives. Responsible for editorial direction, design, production and distribution of all extended university program materials. Leads projects as assigned.
  • Develops, coordinates and oversees programs, technical assistance and resource materials to assist regional locations in the promotion and communication of activities. Provides counsel to regional locations on promotion.
  • Leads recruitment team and drives integrated communication and enrollment. Ensures strategic collaboration and evaluation between promotion, communication, recruitment and outreach efforts.
  • Develops short- and long-term plans and budgets for the promotion, communication, public relations and recruitment and outreach programs and activities. Monitors progress, ensures adherence and evaluates performance. Recommends goals, objectives and provides recommendations for operational innovation.
  • Plans and oversees implementation of all program stakeholder communication. Ensures consistent communication of image and position throughout the organization. Ensures communication of image and position reaches all internal and external constituencies.
  • Coordinates media interest and ensures appropriate response to media requests.
  • Hires, trains, evaluates and supervises staff and student employees.

Minimum qualifications

Required education

  • Master's degree in related field from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • Eight years' relevant experience.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrated success in the design and execution of promotion, communication outreach and recruitment activities.
  • Strong creative, strategic, analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience developing and managing budgets.
  • Experience overseeing the design and production of promotion, communication, outreach and recruitment materials.
  • Commitment to working with shared leadership and in a cross-functional team.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Desired education

  • Master's degree in related field from an accredited institution.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
