General summary

Designs, develops and maintains websites for departments or colleges.

Major duties

  • Collaborates with University staff to define and document website requirements.
  • Ensures website architecture and content meet University standards. Ensures that assigned websites provide up-to-date and comprehensive information that is easily available.
  • Establishes and maintains an information architecture that is well organized, user-friendly and presents a consistent corporate look and feel.
  • Analyzes the use of website content and design. Takes steps as necessary and affordable to improve information content architecture and design.
  • Employs focus groups, surveys, web statistics and emails in order to elicit feedback and improve website content and organization.
  • Coordinates the development, integration, format design and release of content from writers and designers.
  • Prepares and distributes internal newsletters or other communications.

Minimum qualifications

Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.

Required education

  • Associate’s degree or two years’ college coursework in a related field from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • Two years’ relevant experience.
  • Attention to detail and ability to proofread website content.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
