General summary

Plans, configures and supports electronic messaging and collaboration tools for an assigned department. Elicits, analyzes, specifies, and validates the business needs of collaboration project stakeholders.

Major duties

  • Provides advanced operational guidance for University’s cloud service.
  • Configures, maintains, and manages the creation of University’s cloud service applications, including user accounts and mailboxes.
  • Communicates changes, enhancements, and modifications of business requirements to project stakeholders.
  • Ensures accurate and secure delivery of electronic communications in compliance with industry best practices, University policies and applicable government regulations. Develops new strategies to troubleshoot and resolve related issues to maintain compliance.
  • Coordinates installation and updates of unified communications systems, provides technical support, modifies project plans and communicates changes with client and internal staff as necessary.
  • Plans, implements, maintains, reviews, and upgrades systems and solutions for email services utilizing in-depth knowledge of email routing and gateways, enterprise directory, and related cloud and on-premises systems.
  • Develops and maintains task automation and configuration management software to manage and support a suite of collaboration tools.

Required education

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • Three years’ relevant experience.
  • Experience working with online technologies and a solid understanding of cloud concepts.
  • Experience with Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) mail routing environment.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Experience of installing, modifying and administering enterprise software in a virtual environment.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
