General summary
Develops and maintains databases in a department, college, or division. Ensures accuracy, reliability, integrity, and continuous improvement of data practices and databases. Prepares analyses and reports to support information needs.
Major duties
- Collaborates to design, implement, and maintain automation software.
- Designs, develops, and runs reports to query data from databases for University constituents as well as internal stakeholders.
- Works with end users to gather and document requirements for databases, work flow, business rules, and end-user access.
- Writes program code to create or maintain databases. Documents requirements and generates standard ad hoc analyses and reports.
- Selects appropriate software applications, data sets, statistical methods, and reports formats to ensure analyses meet requirements.
- Develops and implements end-user trainings.
- Monitors databases and reviews report output for accuracy and reliability. Ensures programming and databases meet University requirements and professional standards.
- Researches and recommends upgrades, patches, and new application software. Identifies weaknesses within the data structure and suggests solutions for strengthening and improvement.
- Participates in University committees or project teams.

Required education
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited institution.
Required experience
- Three years’ relevant experience.
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.

- Project management experience.
Physical requirements
Light work with some physical demands such as continuously lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds, but rarely moving more than 25 to 50 pounds.
Working conditions
Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
