General summary

Recruits, maintains and instructs personal fitness clientele for the University’s athletic club.

Major duties

  • Recruits, maintains and instructs personal fitness clientele in an individual, dual or group setting.
  • Designs and monitors fitness programs. Maintains client paperwork.
  • Records daily attendance to ensure accurate billing of member and guest clientele.
  • May instruct or participate in group fitness classes, clinics and special events as requested.

Minimum qualifications

Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.

Required education

  • Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required experience

  • One year's relevant experience.

Required other

  • Professional certification in a fitness related field;
  • First Aid/CPR/AED certification and Blood Borne Pathogen training or ability to obtain certification(s) within the first 6 months of hire.
  • Ability to work irregular shifts and extended hours, including evenings and weekends.

Physical requirements

Light work with some physical demands such as continuously lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds, but rarely moving more than 25 to 50 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
