General summary

Coordinates and implements programming that advances the global learning goals of the department.

Major duties

  • Implements Global Learning unit programs.
  • Plans and administers international student and unit orientation programs.
  • Provides support for external funding opportunities and alumni engagement efforts.
  • Assesses international student integration among students and faculty.
  • Assesses, evaluates and develops plans to integrate international students on campus.
  • Works with other offices and organizations to implement best practices for integrating international student into the academic, co-curricular, and social life of the University and community.
  • Provides support for planning and participant activities in short term, English as Second Language, and non-English as Second Language programs.
  • Assists in presenting international students as intellectual resources for University and the community.
  • Provides outreach, passport acceptance, and other duties as assigned.
  • Hires, trains, evaluates and supervises student employees.

Minimum qualifications

Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.

Required education

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • Three years' relevant experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Familiarity with theories and practices of cross-cultural programming.
  • Demonstrated cross-cultural sensitivity and awareness.

  • Foreign language skills.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
