General summary
Manages geographic information systems utility and asset inventory data records and coordinates their use in updating University property and facility records.
Major duties
- Manages and maintains the geo-database that houses all spatial records of University-owned utility systems and facility assets located outside of buildings.
- Updates all utility and asset spatial data. Collects, adds, deletes, and edits utility and asset data based upon campus-wide projects and field discovery.
- Develops and manages interactive web maps for all facility management staff and project contractors and the public facing interactive map for campus community. Generates support map documents.
- Develops data collector applications for facility management departments based on their collection needs. Uses geographic information system data to generate condition analysis on utility systems and assets.
- Designs and tests new web map services and field collector applications. Manages user access to portal and web services. Updates software licenses.
- Tests and develops the integration of geographic information system data and building information modeling data. Implements and maintains global positioning system equipment.
- Coordinates data exchanges with local area agencies.
- Reviews all excavation and dig analysis for facility management. Identifies unknown and abandoned utilities that are unearthed during University projects by researching historical records.
- Assigns all new addresses for the campuses.
Minimum qualifications
Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.
Required education
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited institution.
Required experience
- One year's relevant experience.
- Working Experience with geographical information systems software.
Required other
- MISS DIG Certification.
Physical requirements
Moderate work occasionally working in difficult position or with physical demands such as continuously lifting or moving materials from 25 to 50 pounds and occasionally lifting or moving materials greater than 50 pounds.
Working conditions
Work is performed with exposure to any number of elements which may occasionally require some precautions such as safety glasses, protective clothing, ear protection, etc.
