General summary
Directs and leads study abroad activities for the University.
Major duties
- Coordinates all study abroad activities, including but not limited to hiring, developing, reviewing and supervising staff, assessing and improving processes, managing budgets and developing and implementing policies and procedures.
- Maintains working relationships between departments, colleges, international college committees and faculty to develop study abroad courses, programs and activities.
- Develops and executes strategies to increase study abroad participation. Develops and manages scholarships. Assesses and evaluates all current programs and sites. Remains apprised of best practices and developments in education abroad and international education.

- Supervises and oversees faculty and staff.
Minimum qualifications
Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.
Required education
- Master's degree in related field from an accredited institution.
Required experience
- Five years' relevant experience.
- Supervisory experience.
- Demonstrated progressively responsible leadership experience in the field of international education.
- Management experience with study abroad programs.
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
- International work or study experience.
- Experience and ability to work with diverse populations.
Required other
- Ability to travel both domestically and internationally.
- Proficiency in a second language.
Physical requirements
Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.
Working conditions
Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
