General summary

Directs the Seita scholars program. Delivers support to students with a history in foster care and services designed to close retention and achievement gaps between Seita scholars and other first-time college students.

Major duties

  • Directs operations of the Seita scholars program. Resolves personnel and operational issues. Implements policies and procedures for the department.
  • Manages business operations and financial resources. Develops and monitors budgets. Coordinates complex funding streams, including funds from the state, grants, gifts, endowments and University funding. Allocates and accounts for student scholarships.
  • Coordinates marketing and promotion for programs to increase enrollment of students in the University. Maintains contacts in recruitment databases and the program website.
  • Collaborates with campus administrators and community organizations to support recruitment, retention and return; fund development and program sustainability.
  • Collaborates with national and state agencies, other universities, research institutes, community stakeholders and partner agencies to provide optimal programming and support to students with foster care and trauma histories.
  • Secures external funds to conduct research of best practices for student support. Collects and evaluates data on population and program impact. Identifies and recommends areas of opportunity for programs. Collaborates with units to develop new programs and manages the coach training program.
  • Develops events and educational modules and advises the University community to implement inclusion policies and best practices to support students from foster care and those who have similar trauma histories.

Minimum qualifications

Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.

Required education

  • Master’s degree in related field from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • Five years’ relevant experience.
  • Related supervisory experience.
  • Experience with at-risk youth, young adults and foster care systems.
  • Experience engaging donors and funding agencies.
  • Budget management experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.

  • Eight years' relevant experience.

Desired other

  • Relevant professional license or certification.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
