General summary
Develops and maintains web content management systems and other web applications.
Major duties
- Coordinates with University staff to write, test, debug, maintain, and document programming code for web content management systems and other web applications utilizing a variety of software, techniques, and tools.
- Designs and builds web user interfaces that meet University standards. Identifies opportunities to encourage compliance with accessibility and content standards through interface and data structure improvements.
- Troubleshoots end-user issues and identifies opportunities to improve web application workflows and functionality.
- Leads in the design and development of technology projects. Writes automated and manual testing protocols to validate that web applications meet functional requirements.
- Creates and maintains support documentation, change logs, test protocols, and performance benchmarks.
- Monitors and reports on the performance of web content management systems and web applications. Identifies areas for improvement.
- Remains current on relevant practices and trends. Researches and recommends new technologies to meet web-related functional requirements and strategic goals.
- Hires, trains, evaluates, and supervises student employees.
Minimum qualifications
Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.
Required education
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited institution.
Required experience
- Three years’ relevant experience.
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience documenting technical and content standards.
- Strong attention to detail.
Desired qualifications
Desired experience
- Familiarity with the University’s web content management system.
- Experience working in an agile, test-driven development team.
- Experience using a version control system.
Desired other
- Relevant industry certification.
Physical requirements
Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.
Working conditions
Work is generally performed in a well lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
