General summary

Provides clinical oversight for direct care staff.

Major duties

  • Establishes working relationships with referral agents local community mental health centers, other residential providers and community agencies.
  • Ensures direct care staff is properly trained and monitored. Provides corrective action on medication management for consumers as necessary.
  • Identifies staff behaviors that indicate the need for professional development activities, including new training programs, redesigning current training practices, and producing new training requirements.
  • Conducts department-specific new hire orientation and completes all required documentation.
  • Meets with participants and care teams as needed to monitor service plans and follow up on participant progress.
  • Supervises the delivery of personal care and activities of daily living for participants while at program.
  • Participates as a member of the management team at the disability service center, represents center on committees, responsible for accreditation standards and contract compliance.
  • Develops working relationships with faculty in departments within the health and human services college to increase service-learning opportunities for students in the allied health fields.
  • Hires, trains, evaluates and supervises student employees.

Required education

  • Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • Three years' relevant experience.
  • Supervisory or lead experience.
  • Experience working with people with disabilities.
  • Experience completing clinical documentation.
  • Experience in the day-to-day supervision of day programs for adults with disabilities or behavioral challenges.
  • Experience in the day-to-day supervision who need teaching or assistance with daily living skills.
  • Experience training direct care staff.

Desired qualifications

Desired experience

  • 5 Years relevant experience.
  • Experience with electronic health record systems.
  • Experience with providing all aspects of care to Adults with Disabilities and ability to train others to provide care.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is performed with exposure to any number of elements which may occasionally require some precautions such as safety glasses, protective clothing, ear protection, etc.
