General summary

Manages event planning and production for the student center.

Major duties

  • Manages event planning and production in the student center, including oversight and management of reservations.
  • Assists with the implementation of software for critical business functions of the student center.
  • Engages in all accounting practices regarding the student center and chapel in cooperation with other departments. Prepares fiscal and budget reports. Manages invoicing and collection for rental services.
  • Prepares and conducts event planning training workshops with student organizations.
  • Coordinates student center alcohol beverage services.
  • Prepares and distributes daily, weekly, monthly, and annual reports for planning, scheduling, and statistical purposes.
  • Ensures online schedule is accurate and accessible.
  • Interprets, advise, and enforces adherence to University, student center, and chapel policies and procedures.
  • Maintains a strong knowledge of meeting and event venues across campus in order to refer clients to alternate locations in case of availability issues. Builds positive relationships across campus and the community.
  • Hires, trains, evaluates, and supervises student employees.

Required education

  • Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required experience

  • Two years' relevant experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Experience managing or coordinating events, meetings and programs.
  • Strong office software skills, including word processing, spreadsheets and presentations.
  • Ability to understand and positively respond to cultural differences and embrace the ideals of diversity and inclusion.

Physical requirements

Light work with some physical demands such as continuously lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds, but rarely moving more than 25 to 50 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
