General summary

Develops, evaluates, and implements programs, services, and marketing communications to contribute to the success of the University's dining services and addresses nutritional needs of dining service customers.

Major duties

  • Directs decision-making for dining operations and culinary services. Utilizes industry data benchmarks and customer satisfaction surveys to create proposals for optimizing resources and meeting revenue targets.
  • Communicates with dining management and other stakeholders. Summarizes risk-benefit analysis. Analyzes data to develop a strategic plan in accordance with set criteria.
  • Acts as an ambassador to promote University’s diverse dining programs.
  • Creates marketing strategies for business growth, customer service enhancement, and recruitment support. Utilizes data to guide marketing decisions and adheres to University branding standards.
  • Collaborates with key stakeholders to plan menus and food concepts. Uses feedback from customer surveys to improve menu options and services.
  • Uses menu management systems to communicate with the dining team. Ensures that nutritional information, ingredient details, and food allergen information are readily available to students and guests. Develops and implements policies to ensure compliance with government regulations on food safety and nutrition.
  • Leads nutrition and dietetics for the University. Establishes department goals, policies, and procedures for food and ingredient choices. Coordinates dietary accommodations for students and prospective students.
  • Trains staff on dietary accommodations, policies, and procedures. Promotes best practices in nutrition and wellness for diverse student populations.
  • Provides temporary supervision in dining areas as needed. Conducts training sessions on diverse topics such as food safety and onboarding.

Minimum qualifications

Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.

Required education

  • Master's degree in related field from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • Three years' relevant experience.
  • Progressive leadership experience in a related field.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to develop and present engaging presentations.
  • Proven ability to work well as a contributing team member within a complex organization requiring collaboration, teamwork, and communication.
  • Ability to provide a high-level of customer service.

Required other

  • ServSafe certified or the ability to obtain within 90 days of date of hire.
  • Registration as a dietitian per Commission on Dietetic Registration of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
  • Ability to travel across campus.
  • Ability to work extended hours including evenings and weekends.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements. May be exposed to blood borne pathogens and bodily fluids, must comply with Universal Precautions
