General summary

Develops, implements, manages, and evaluates recruitment and outreach activities, strategies and programs to recruit, admit and enroll community college transfer students.

Major duties

  • Collaborates with University staff to create and manage marketing strategies and materials specific to community college students. Develops and implements college-specific transfer recruiting activities.
  • Develops, implements, and oversees strategic planning to recruit community college students to the University, including developing and implementing systems to collect and analyze transfer student data.
  • Represents the University at university recruiting events including open houses and transfer outreach events. Holds regular office hours at least once a month to meet with community college students, staff, and faculty at regional partners.
  • Works with the University’s academic advising and academic units to develop and implement programming to facilitate transfer students' transition to the college. Participates in University and College transfer orientation.
  • Consults with community college constituents, College academic advising and University enrollment management to coordinate course and program articulation agreements for the college. Maintains transfer guides for college programs for Michigan community colleges.
  • Develops and manages budget for transfer recruiting and outreach activities.
  • May visit community colleges in Southeast Michigan, Illinois, or Indiana once each semester.
  • May advise prospective transfer students on college and University academic requirements for admission, general education, major and minor programs.
  • May teach a community college and University course for dual-enrolled students at partner community colleges.

Minimum qualifications

Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.

Required education

  • Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • One year's relevant experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.

Required other

  • Ability to travel in-state and out-of-state.
  • Ability to work irregular shifts and extended hours, including evenings and weekends.

  • Master's degree in related field from an accredited institution.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
