General summary
Provides leadership in planning, delivering, and evaluating student programs and services that promote academic success and overall student thriving. Manages student development initiatives and coordinates special projects to advance departmental goals. Collaborates across the institution to enhance student engagement, learning, and achievement.
Major duties
- Develops, implements, and evaluates programs and services. Provides leadership, and implementation of all programs and services of assigned special program or grant.
- Manages and strategically executes assigned elements within the unit's program model.
- Manages program budget and prepare financial reports. Ensures financial and budgetary accountability with the department, vice presidential area, university and funding agency as certified by unit supervisor. Finds new funding opportunities to enhance programming.
- Collects and analyzes University data regarding target populations. Monitors data and creates strategy to effect retention and graduation rates of targeted populations. Research best practice trends to enhance programs and services.
- Maintains relationships with both internal and external entities to enhance programs and services within the unit. Collaborates with the university and community for continuity of service.
- Engages with program scholars to foster a strong sense of belonging and enhance overall program effectiveness; provides support to affiliated student organizations, including occasional evening and weekend hours as needed.
- Recruits, hires, trains, and supervises staff, student employees, graduate assistants, and part-time or full-time personnel to support and advance the department’s mission.
Minimum qualifications
Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.
Required education
- Bachelor’s degree in related field from an accredited institution.
Required experience
- Five years’ relevant experience.
- Grant writing and grant administration experience.
- Experience working with diverse college student population.
- Budget and financial management and oversight experience.
- Supervisory experience.
Required other
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
- Ability to work irregular shifts and extended hours, including weekends and holidays.
Physical requirements
Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.
Working conditions
Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
