General summary
Develops and implements marketing strategies and programs to recruit high school students with a migrant or seasonal farm working background. Develops strategies and implement programs for retention, serving as its liaison with students, parents and other interested parties. Manages and develops retention efforts for continuing College Assistance Migrant Program students.
Major duties
- Develop and implement marketing strategies to recruit migrant and seasonal farmworker students within assigned in and out-of-state territories. Maintain contact with high schools to identify, recruit and admit students into the College Assistance Migrant Program.
- Develop strategies and implement programs for retention. Advise and coach students regarding their pathway and progress towards degree attainment. Manage programs and activities that promote student success.
- Advise and provide students and parents with information regarding academic programs and the admissions process.
- Develop, coordinate, and deliver outreach programs in collaboration with high school counselors, administrators or other constituent groups. Arrange visits and tours for prospective students and parents.
- Oversees admissions process from inquiry to enrollment. Implements admissions policies and procedures.
- Maintain participant records and collect data necessary for all reports and evaluation.
- Hires, trains, evaluates and supervises student employees.
Minimum qualifications
Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.
Required education
- Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.
Required experience
- One year's relevant experience.
- Experience working with a diverse college student population
Required other
- Ability to travel in and out of state.
- Ability to work irregular shifts and extended hours, including weekends and holidays.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
- Valid Michigan Driver’s license.
Physical requirements
Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.
Working conditions
Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
